Making a website can be fun but it's also a lot of hard work. Luckily the web itself provides perhaps the richest source of help you could wish for. So, in this section, I'd like to thank the people, websites and software developers who've made my life easier. Please give a warm hand for...

Reference Points
  • Eric Meyer - His brilliant site css/edge proved an inspiration in how to design using pure CSS
  • Brian Wilson's Index DOT - the definitive guide to HTML and CSS
  • The W3C's online HTML Validator and CSS Validator which I've used extensively
  • All the knowledgable people who hang out at the MyOpera webdesign forum
  • Mark Schenks' beautiful CSS Exposed website
  • It hardly needs saying, but obviously Google - who could live without it?
  • And, finally, Bill Hicks for reminding us all that life is just a ride...
Incorporated Software
  • Ian Willis's great little PHP search engine iSearch which powers the text search on this site
  • The Coppermine Photo Gallery which I hacked to use for my Gallery pages (the current version is much nicer than the one on my site!)
  • PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor scripting language that is at the heart of this site
  • Not forgetting the MySQL database engine that serves up much of the content
  • Also a big thanks to WPoison - an anti-spam tool that lures bad spiders to their death :)
Tools & Utilities
  • All my code and XHTML was hand-crafted using the brilliant UltraEdit text editor
  • Graphics and icons were made using Photoshop 7 by Adobe
  • All PNG graphics were run through PNGCrush to minimise their filesize
  • Big thanks to Opera Software for making THE best browser out there
  • LAME which was used to encode all my MP3 tracks (using CDex as the interface)
  • Development was conducted on Apache's HTTP Server

  • All programming, images and design © Dan Booth except were stated.
  • However, feel free to use any of the design for this site as a template for your own, if you so wish. It would be nice if you gave me a link back to this site if you find anything useful here, but that's up to you. Let's try and keep the web open and free and share ideas!
